Natural User Interface (NUI)

According to Wikipedia, "In computing, a natural user interface, or NUI, or Natural Interface is the common parlance used by designers and developers of human-machine interfaces to refer to a user interface that is effectively invisible, and remains invisible as the user continuously learns increasingly complex interactions. The word natural is used because most computer interfaces use artificial control devices whose operation has to be learned.

Thus, “natural” refers to a goal in the user experience – that the interaction comes naturally, while interacting with the technology, rather than that the interface itself is natural. Kinect is a device that is oriented to the NUI (Natural User Interface), because it helps users to interect to the Xbox (and computer) with gestures that they can do with their hands, head, arms, and the body in general. This technology can work even if there are other people in the room or if the lights are low (or there are no light).
